Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify whether there are any difference in stress and coping strategy of nursing students according to 4 personality index of MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).

Methods: A descriptive survey study conducted data collection with questionnaires using e-mail to nursing students of the C university who performed MBTI. MBTI results were referred to the C University Counseling Center, Life stress scale and Way of coping checklist was used.

Results: Degree of stress according to personality type, there was no significant difference. Way to coping strategy according to personality type to follow Extroversion, Intuition and Thinking prefernece significantly more active coping strategies was used than Introversion, Sensing and Feeling preference.

Conclusion: Counseling and programs development were needed associated with the use of active coping strategy to Introversion, Sensing and Feeling preference. The results of this study will be able to take advantage of the basic data for stress management, counseling of students and the development of coping program based MBTI personality type.
